Campbell the Scottish family name of a clan. Perhaps most notable for the Massacre of Glencoe. Within the United States, it is ranked as the 46th-most common surname.[1]

Campbell is of Celtic or Gaelic origin and means "crooked mouth" (from Gaelic cam (crooked or distorted) and beul (mouth). The first known person to bear the name is Gillespie O. Duibhne, who lived in the early 13th century.[2]
