Camp Hess Kramer is a Jewish summer sleep-away camp located in Malibu, California, in Little Sycamore Canyon between the Santa Monica Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. CHK was founded in 1950 by Rabbi Alfred Wolf in order to get America's Jewish youth interested in their heritage, culture, and traditions. CHK is one of the largest summer camps in America, owning a campsite stretching about a mile to approximately 120 acres nestled in a small valley in the Malibu hills. CHK has three sessions; 1st session for the younger campers, 2nd session for the slightly older campers, and a shorter third session, for the campers unable to attend the first two. CHK is operated by the Wilshire Boulevard Temples: The Edgar F. Magnin Campus, and the Audrey and Sydney Irmas Campus. Famous alumni include Greg Epstein & Blake Einhorn. In addition to CHK, the WBT also run a summer sleepaway camp with the name Gindling Hilltop Camp, which is located on top of the hills of Malibu, just above Camp Hess Kramer. It is considerably smaller than CHK but makes up for it with its breath-taking ocean views.
