Camden Road railway station is in the London Borough of Camden in North London.
The original Camden Road station was built by the Midland Railway in 1868 when it built its extension to St Pancras station. It was situated immediately after the 205 yard Camden Tunnels. It closed in 1916.
Just north of St. Pancras the line passes under the North London Line to which it had access up a steep incline. Shortly further north, another junction gave access to the Metropolitan lines.
The present station was built close by on the North London Line, and originally called Camden Town. It opened as 8 December 1870 and was renamed on 25 September 1950. The station and all trains serving it are operated by Silverlink. It is in Travelcard Zone 2.
It is located at the corner of Royal College Street and Camden Road. The station currently known as Camden Town is on the Northern Line of the London Underground and is a few hundred yards/metres west of Camden Road station.
[edit] Service
The typical service at the station is four trains per hour westbound to Richmond via Willesden Junction, and four trains per hour eastbound to Stratford via Highbury & Islington and Hackney Central.
