[edit] Political Alignments and Beleifs
- That the Australian Government's new WorkChoices legislation will harm more Australians that it will help.
- That everyone has a right to observe a religion if they so choose, and should be free to worship as they wish, unless it invloves demoralising or harming another group.
- That Australia, and all countries, have an obligation to observe the United Nations' Declaration of Human Rights, and that in light of the arrival of West Papuan asylum seekers to our shores, we should be investigating claims of human rights abuses instead of turning them away or subjecting to demands by other nations (i.e Indonesia).
- That our legislations and laws should not have any influences by external nations
- That gay marriage should be legalised in Australia and not blocked because of the religious beleifs of some politicians.
[edit] View on Intelligent Design
- That while everyone is free to observe their own religion, there is no place for the teaching of religion in the classroom, unless it occurs during Religious Education or an equivalent. Basically, that Intelligent Design is codswallop and self-righteous Americans should retreat back to their churches and teach religion there, without forcing it upon young unobjective children.
There is no proof to suggest the existance of a creator God, therefore we can't seriously teach something that is unfounded. I could be a Pastafarian, and suggest that the Earth and heavens were created by a giant spaghetti and meatball monster, but that doesn't make it true. If we back the teaching of Intelligent Design, how long will it take before we turn into a werewolf?
