California State Prison - Sacramento
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
California State Prison - Sacramento is a state prison in California, USA.
On October 10, 1986 an expansion to Folsom State Prison (FSP) was completed on a 1,200-acre site in the FSP grounds in Represa, Sacramento County. The expansion was initially referred to as "New Folsom", but in 1991 the expansion was administratively separated from FSP and designated California State Prison - Sacramento (CSP-SAC, or SAC).
The prison is comprised of three independent maximum security facilities within an electric fence. Each facility has eight housing units with sixty-four cells, divided into three secure sections. A dining area adjoins each pair of housing units. This design was the first of the "180 Design" housing units built during the 1980's and 1990's during the period of prison construction in California. There is also a separate Minimum Support Facility.
