California High School (commonly referred to as Cal High) is located in San Ramon, California. It is a public school and currently (as of 2006) has about 2,400 students. Its mascot is a Grizzly Bear and is "Home of the Grizzlies." The school's newspaper is The Californian. California High School's mission statement is:

"The mission of California High School is to develop student potential, self-worth, and responsibility. To achieve this mission, the staff promotes a positive environment and a diverse educational program of excellence, which includes academics, arts vocational education, extracurricular activitiess, and life skills."

Cal High's primary sports rival are the Monte Vista Mustangs (Monte Vista is not to be confused with Monta Vista High School, about 50 miles south). Another major rival is San Ramon Valley High School. Both of these rival schools are located in the nearby town of Danville. Class competitions like the annual homecoming parade and lip sync performance are popular among students.

The rival to Cal High used to be Dublin High, but because the schools were so close together, riots were a constant problem after football games. Having the two schools in different leagues was thus the only solution.
