California's 11th congressional district is located in Northern California, encompassing parts of San Joaquin, Alameda, Contra Costa, and Santa Clara counties.

The district is currently represented by Republican Richard Pombo, who will be succeeded by Democrat Jerry McNerney in the next Congress.

Democratic nominee, Jerry McNerney, in the general election, again faced incumbent Pombo. This election was held on November 7, 2006, and Mcnerney won 53% to 47% percent.
