Caldo verde is a popular soup of Portuguese and Brazilian cuisine.

The basic ingredients are mashed potatoes and minced collard greens, savoy cabbage, or kale. Onions and/or slices of sausage are also often added. Common flavoring ingredients are garlic, salt, and olive oil.

In Portugal, it is typically consumed during festivities, and usually served with a bit of chouriço sausage (tora).
