Calderwood

Calderwood is an area of the Scottish new town East Kilbride, in South Lanarkshire.

It lies to the north east, and is one of the largest areas of the town.

It is the location of Hunter House Museum, the home of the Hunter Brothers, William and John, famous anatomists of the 18th century. In recent years its most famous brothers have been William and Jim Reid of the Jesus and Mary Chain. Ally McCoist who played for Rangers F.C. and Scotland went to Maxwellton Primary and Hunter High. Blythe Duff of Taggart fame also lived in Calderwood.

There are also 4 primary schools: Long Calderwood Primary, Maxwellton Primary, Greenburn Primary, Hunter Primary; and one secondary school: Hunter High School.

However Hunter High School is planned to merge with Claremont High School. A new building on the site of Claremont High will be used, in the St Leonards area of the Town. This new school will be called Calderglen High School.
