Calacoto

Calacoto is a neighborhood in La Paz, Bolivia. It is located in the southern part of the city. It is considered one of the most residential zones because the cost of the houses and services available. The population in this neighborhood has on the average a medium to high income level. It zone is located about 15 kilometers from downtown. Calacoto is located in the central zone of the ‘Zona Sur’, which is considered the most residential area in the country along with Santa Cruz’s Aquipetrol and Cochabamba’s Cala Cala.

The demographics of Calacoto are Catholic white and mestizo (Spanish and other European with Aymara and Quechua descent) with middle to high socioeconomic status from all ages. It is also viewed as a negative icon in the general Bolivian population opinion due to the disparity in the economical power compared to the majority of Bolivia’s average.
