The Daughter of the Forest is a historical fantasy novel by Juliet Marillier.
[edit] Plot Introduction
Sorcha is the seventh child and only daughter of Lord Colum of Sevenwaters, a powerful Irish warlord and custodian of the Forest of Sevenwaters. Her mother died giving birth to her, so her six elder brothers raised her as best as they could. However, everything in Sorcha's life changes when her father is bewitched by an evil sorceress, and her brothers are placed under a powerful spell. Sorcha can only save them by completing a difficult task set by the Tuatha Dé Danann, and by staying silent until her brothers are returned from the spell. It is tedious work, and everything changes again when Sorcha is taken by a group of Britons; her fathers enemy. She comes to realize, however, that she can save her brothers lives, or take hold of a chance at a new life, and new love.
