From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cabeço Gordo (Portuguese for fat head) is the highest mountain on the island of Faial with its elevation at 1,043 m. It also has a crater and is also a caldera. The volcano is extinct since the last eruption of 1957/1958 and created Capelinhos with 2.4 km². Its diameter is 2 km and the valley from the volcano is 400 m lower. The crater changed the island of Faial and moved slightly west.
The Cabeço Gordo includes the municipalities of Cedros, Feteira, Salão, and a couple of more.
