The article is full of POVs, and its missing relevant information such as its foundation date and history before the Independence revolution and despite it has an external link to some websites the article lacks proper citations and references within wikipedia guidelines. it's a complete mess. --F3rn4nd0 13:02, 2 October 2006 (UTC)

- I tried to help with this article, but user:ricardoramirezj insists on maintaining a POV. He sustains without prove that Cucuta is a secure city, contrary to reliable sources (BBC) and El Pais newspaper from Spain [1].

Mire Fernando... la verdad no sé en que forma decirselo. Eso pasó una sola vez y en la época en que la guerrilla tenía poder en la ciudad. Hoy en día la ciudad es muy segura y como está en el artículo vive una era de progreso sin presedentes.
Considero que si alguien necesita información sobre Cúcuta y la consulta en Wikipedia querrá saber donde queda, que población tiene, cuando se fundó etc... más no que un día se colocó una bomba que mató a siete personas.
Considero que esta parrago le caga la cara a mi ciudad.. y no es enciclopedico.
Este es el único atentado que ha sufrido Cúcua en muchos años... ha diferencia de ciudades como Medellín, Bogotá, Cali que sufren muchos a diario.. y no por eso está escrito en el tercer parrafo de sua artículo en Wikipedia.
Si los artículos de las ciudades anteriormente mencionadas se colocaran todos los atentados que sufren a diario.. seguramente desbordarían un navegador.

I've been asked to give a third opinion on this dispute. Unless you specifically point other points of contention out to me I'm going to deal mainly with the addition of the two graphs and the deletion of the paragraph on the violence as they seem to be the main problems I've spotted.
Firstly, the paragraph is mainly well-sourced, especially the part about it having the highest murder rate, although that particular citation should point at [6]; it isn't covered in the existing one. Note that "the BBC says that Cúcuta has the highest murder rate" is not exactly the same claim as "Cúcuta has the highest murder rate". By attributing it to a source, we allow people to judge how truthful it is likely to be, based on the reputation of the BBC; it is, in other words, verifiable. Wikipedia policy states that the person wanting something to be included should provide the evidence, and I'm satisfied that F3rn4nd0 has done so. If you think what F3rn4nd0 has said is untrue, Ricardoramirezj, I'd invite you to provide reliable sources that state otherwise. Then, in line with NPOV, it can be added into the article too.
Secondly, the graphs look good, and seem mostly relevant, but are perhaps a tad large. Perhaps scale them down and run them inline with some text by putting |300px|right| into the image link. If there are potentially copyright problems, they should be brought up on the appropriate image talk page.
Finally, can I ask all parties to please use English (or at least provide an English translation) on talk pages. The person you're addressing it to may speak Spanish, but I'm afraid too many (possibly interested) third parties can't. --Scott Wilson 21:10, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Scott Wilson.. I have a question for you. Where is the BBC? Is in Colombia? No, it is not. I'm a colombian and I know very well my city, and it is one of the safest in Colombia. Make a search with the word of "Cúcuta" in EL TIEMPO (the main colombian newspaper) and in LA OPINIÓN (the main newspaper in Cúcuta) and you will not find anything.

Despite the BBC's flaws, they're better than anything you've brought to the table. If you can find a source (in a Columbian newspaper or otherwise) that says that Cúcuta does not have the highest murder rate in Columbia, please put it forwards. Remember that the threshold for inclusion in Wikipedia is verifiabiliy, not fact. "I live in Cúcuta and I haven't even come close to being murdered yet" is, I'm afraid, not enough because no-one can check up on it; the reputation of the person saying it has not been established even if the fact is totally true. Those images were mine.
