Byron Shire is is a Local Government Area (LGA) in New South Wales, Australia in the Northern Rivers region. It includes 347 (1.2%) indigenous persons and 22,564 (78.0%) Australian-born persons. It is on the Pacific Ocean and the Pacific Highway.
Byron Shire includes the towns of Byron Bay (7,032 in 2001), Mullumbimby (3,000), Ocean Shores (3,466), Suffolk Park (3,318), Brunswick Heads (1,862), South Golden Beach (1,486), Bangalow (1,230), Billinudgel and Yelgun.
