From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It Happened to Nancy: By an Anonymous Teenager (ISBN 0-380-77315-5) is a book for young adults by Beatrice Sparks. It purports to be an actual diary only edited by Sparks. However, Sparks has released similar books where the authorship has been called into question. See Go Ask Alice.

[edit] Story

The main character, a fourteen year old anonymous teenager ("Nancy") meets a man ("Collin") at a concert, and falls in love with him. He appears to be a nice, normal man, although he is much older than Nancy. After briefly dating, he rapes her at her house and never sees her again. Eventually Nancy is diagnosed with AIDS, and told she will die within two years. She tries to live a regular life. She attempts to file a police report but it turns out Colin lied about his identity. Nancy then goes to live with her aunt on a ranch, and dies there.
