[edit] Articles created

[edit] Favourite Wikipedia AfD moment

  • When a bystander inclusionist called me a "powermad asshole" who launches deletionist "Wikijihads" against innocent articles during the WWAC-TV hoax investigation - which concluded with total surrender, full confession, and abject apology by the panicked hoaxers.
    • Nice job researching this one. - ScottW 21:22, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Defender of the Wiki Barnstar 1

    • I, User:Pete.Hurd, award you this Defender of the Wiki barnstar for your investigations into the Brent Henry Waddington hoax

[edit] Barnstar of Diligence

The Barnstar of Diligence
For your diligent research efforts to establish actual WP:V for subjects on WP:AfD, rather than lazy leafing through notability guidelines. ~ trialsanderrors 20:08, 2 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Defender of the Wiki Barnstar 2

The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar
My heartfelt thanks for your diligence and sharp eyes. You put them to great use investigating and cleaning up the fraud on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Steve Nguyen (Second Nomination) and the related article. William Pietri 02:36, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Barnstar with bar (as in I came here to give you a barnstar for your work on this AFD & William Pietri beat me to it). Rock on! Pete.Hurd 04:16, 11 September 2006 (UTC)
Holy cow! You're the same guy that did the amazing digging on the Alakon/Brent Henry Waddington hoax investigation! My hat's off to you!! Pete.Hurd 04:23, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Other significant contributions

[edit] Articles I am only not nominating for deletion out of personal sentimentality

[edit] Articles on people I have stood next to and engaged in small-talk for a minute or two, during which time I could have tried to ask something deep and meaningful, but I did not as my mind was totally blank

[edit] Would like to see...

  • Much lower bar on deletion process (current requirement for consensus for deletion is a huge bias in favour of many non-notable articles). Wikipedia is not infinite in time or space or meaning.
  • More established recognition of non-notability deletion criteria
  • Fewer trivial pop culture references from pop culture media which are specifically designed to make numerous pop cultural references (XXX appeared in an episode of The Simpsons etc.)
  • A solution to the over-wikification of dates problem
  • Separate wikis for all fancruft
  • Stricter guidelines to exclude "facts" created by marketing / publicity campaigns
