Buz Sawyer is a US advertising executive. Mr Sawyer started his career at Weiden and Kennedy, an agency well known for its creativeness and work with Nike. Buz worked with Weiden and Kennedy for 6 years, starting the Amsterdam branch. He then moved to Northern California and worked with Lowe Lintas and Partners. After the closure of that agency, Buz returned to Weiden and Kennedy in 2001 as Managing Director.[1] He has brought new business to W and K such as ABC Media and a short stint with Avon Products, Inc. Mr. Sawyer has also kept ties strong with New York Weiden and Kennedy's largest clients, ESPN and Nike, Inc..

[edit] Shutdown of Lowe Lintas San Francisco office

In May 2001, Interpublic, the parent company of Lowe Lintas & Partners, shut down its San Francisco office headed by Mr. Sawyer. "A dramatic softening in the San Francisco economy and cuts in ad spending." was given as the explanation. "Buz Sawyer, who heads the San Francisco office, was unavailable for comment."[2]

While general manager of Lowe & Partners/SMS in San Francisco in 1999, Mr. Sawyer was responsible for the marketing of 800.com, an online electronics retailer, and was quoted as saying "Our challenge is to produce work that propels 800.COM into a household brand name". $25 million was allocated to this promotion. [3]. In February 2002, 800.com ceased operations after failing to secure a sixth round of funding.[4].
