Bus upgrade zone

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bus upgrade zones, commonly abbreviated to BUZ, are a feature of Brisbane's public transport system. Each BUZ consists of a high-frequency bus service operated by Brisbane Transport, the Brisbane City Council agency that operates the city's public bus services.

All BUZ services run at least every fifteen minutes in each direction from 6:00am to 11:00pm seven days a week. BUZ routes also run at least every ten minutes during peak hours from Monday to Friday.

Nearly all BUZ routes are express services, with stops sometimes separated by quite lengthy distances. Often, these BUZ services are duplicated by all-stops services (e.g. Route 200 closely parallels the route of the Route 204 all-stops service to Carindale). Route 199 is the only BUZ that is an all-stops service with bus stops within short walking distances of each other.

As of October 23, 2006, there were nine BUZ services (first operation date in brackets):

  • 111 - City - Eight Mile Plains : BUZ via South-East Busway (Every day) (BT) (30 April, 2001)
  • 130 - City - Algester : BUZ via South Bank, South-East Busway and Sunnybank (Every day) (BT) (27 January, 2004)
