[edit] Casualties
The number of people killed varies depending on who you ask, some estimates are as low as 90 whilst others report 100 or more. The figure I used comes from the Met Office's assessment. --Zerbey 15:41, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- I seen to remember that it was during this storm that Gordon Kaye suffered serious head injuries when a scaffolding pole flew through the windscreen of his car. Mintguy (T) 15:44, 26 Aug 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Strongest storm on record?
The claim that this was "one of the strongest storms on record" needs both citation and qualification, such as "one of the strongest storms to hit Europe". I mean, it wouldn't rank in the top 5 in any given Atlantic hurricane season, would it? Jeff Worthington 14:48, 19 October 2006 (UTC)
- In a single hurricane season...maybe, if it's a slow season. But yeah, it needs clarification as one of the strongest storms to hit Europe, or the U.K. bob rulz 12:10, 26 November 2006 (UTC)
