Burwell, Lincolnshire

Burwell is a small village on the A16 road, north of Spilsby, Lincolnshire, and occupying approximately 2200 acres (9 kmĀ²).

According to Whites 1876 Lincolnshire, There was a Manor House at Burwell, called Burwell Park, rebuilt in 1760, and also a Priory of Benedictine Monks founded by John de Hayes, given to Charles Duke of Suffolk by 'Enery the Eighth during the Dissolution of the Monasteries. There is also a Church dedicated to St Michael, which is in the hands of the Redundant Churches Fund. It became redundant on 13-May-1981 and was taken over by the fund on 27-Oct-1982.
