Burnage

Burnage is a small post-industrial suburb of Manchester, England. The district is probably best known as the childhood home of Liam and Noel Gallagher, of the British rock band Oasis. Who attended Barlow. The actor Max Beesley and the scholar of Islam Martin Lings are also from the area. Burnage was the one-time home of the late John Thaw, the renowned and well-loved actor. Burnage is also where the first flight from London to Manchester to be completed in under 24 hours ended in victory for Louis Paulhan on 28th April 1910.
The writer Frances Hodgson Burnett, who wrote Little Lord Fauntleroy, spent most of her early childhood in Burnage.

The city councillors elected for the ward in 2004 are John Cameron, Iain Donaldson and Rodney Isherwood (all Liberal Democrat). Burnage is one of seven City Council Wards in the Parliamentary Constituency of Manchester Withington, represented by John Leech MP (Liberal Democrat).
