Burma Province

Burma Province was colony of British India. Various portions of Burmese territories, including Arakan, Tenassarim were conferred to the British after British victory in First Anglo-Burmese War. Lower Burma as annexed by the British in 1852 after the Second Anglo-Burmese War. The British-acquired territories were designated a province in 1862. After the Third Anglo-Burmese War in 1886, Upper Burma was annexed. Burma Province was separated from British India in 1937 and became a separate Crown Colony, with many powers given to the Burmese.
