Bulbophyllum fletcherianum

[edit] About the specimen

Bulbophyllum fletcherianum at the Tropical House, Melbourne Royal Botanic Gardens. The specimen was collected in Papua New Guinea in the early 1970s by a local orchid collector from Lae Bontanic Gardens. This photo was taken on 30 August 2005. The orchid also flowered in 2002 (also in August), and prior to that the gardens staff believe it flowered in 1980, but less spectacularly.

This specimen is grown on a piece of cork oak.
