Bully Hill Vineyards

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bully Hill is a winery located near Hammondsport, NY on Keuka Lake in the Finger Lakes region. It is one of several vineyards to be included in the Keuka Lake Wine Trail.

Walter Stephen Taylor (Walter S.) was the fourth generation of his family to own the winery, before losing a lawsuit to the Coca-Cola corporation, in which he was stripped of his surname. Upon loss of the lawsuit, he was left with a considerable stock of labeled wines which were now rendered unsaleable. It is said that he invited all of his friends to the vineyard, telling them to bring a permanent marker with whoch to cross out the now restricted name, and thet they would be rewarded with as many bottles as they wished. These modified bottles are now highly collectable amongst Bully Hill enthusiasts. He was known for commenting on the decision in saying, "They have my name and heritage but they didn't get my goat!".
