Bull Moose Special
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bull Moose Special is the name given to the armored train that Quinn Morton, a Kanawha County coal operator and a group of Baldwin-Felts Detectives drove through a tent colony of striking miners and their families during the Paint Creek-Cabin Creek Strike. While driving through, Morton, the detectives, and the deputies opened fire on the colony with machine guns and high powered rifles, killing one miner and injuring several others. The incident was one in a series of events that led to a declaration of martial law in the strike zone.
