Bulgarian B Professional Football Group
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bulgarian B Professional Football Group ("Б" Професионална футболна група) or B PFG ("Б" ПФГ) is a professional football tournament in Bulgaria. It currently comprises two leagues: East and West, each with 14 teams. It is administered by the Bulgarian Professional Football League.
The winners are promoted to Bulgaria's top A PFG to replace those that are relegated. The teams with the worst performance in B PFG are demoted to the amateur C FG, which in return promotes the replacements. The B PFG has gone through several reforms through the years and it is highly probable that its form will change again in the next few years. The reason is that there are plans to reduce the number of teams in the A PFG from 16 to 10.
During the season of 2004/2005 the PFG was still only a single, unified league. The top three teams then were Vihren, Botev Plovdiv and Pirin 1922 that qualified for the top division.
