Bulevar Kralja Aleksandra

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bulevar Kralja Aleksandar (Serbian: Булевар Краља Александра; English: King Aleksandar Boulevard) is the longest street in Belgrade, Serbia. It was named after King Aleksandar Obrenović. During the period of Communist (Communist Party of Yugoslavia) rule in Yugoslavia, it was known as Revolution Boulevard (Serbia: Булевар Револуције or Bulevar Revolucije).

[edit] Renovation

A major renovation of the street started in August 2006. The last phase of the re-asphalting of the Boulevard of King Alexander will be complete by October 22. The pavements in front of the Law and Technical Faculty and Vuk’s Memorial are still left to be complete. The old pavements have been removed and new red, yellow and black tiles have been put in. The restoration of the street started 2 months ago and was completed in phases so traffic congestion could be avoided. It is not know when was the last time the area had been given a face lift, however a couple of decades must have passed.
