Bulb Records
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bulb Records is a record label was started in mid 1993 under the tutelage of Pete Larson (now of the 2 piece metal rock band 25 Suaves) and James Magas (now known simply as Magas). James E. Krier, Andrew W.K.'s father, also used his money to help start this label. The label was originally a vehicle for putting out records by local Michigan avant-garde and lo-fi musical acts, but expanded later to become well known and influential in the world of independent music. Although the label has been inactive for some time, many now well known groups can trace their beginnings to the BULB label or can say that they have been influenced by the label in some way. Although the label's official website claims to still sell their material, it is not a good idea to try buying it. Appearantly, Pete is so swamped with orders, one fan oredered 1 CD more than 2 years ago, and still hasn't received his order. A way to order from Bulb and actually get your item, order through their distributor, Surefire Distribution

In 2006, a record under the name Steev Mike had been discovered. Steev Mike is supposedly the other name Andrew W.K. has gone under, and Steev Mike has even been thought to be the creator of Andrew W.K. It had a Bulb Records label on it, and had been dated 1992. The record was first found on eBay, in which the auction states the records (the seller had 25) were found at a garage sale in Ann Arbor (Where Bulb Records was founded). A little over a month after, a UK record shop, Volcanic Tongue, was selling copies of the record in their online store. That website did not have a lot of copies in stock, and about a week after they listed it for sale, they were out, and took the page down. The tracks on the record are the same as Bulb band Couch's first EP, except for the last track, which is Couch's track Old Man. On the back of the Steev Mike record, Andrew W.K.'s father, James Krier, is named. This is not strange, because it is known that James used his money to help found the label. Not much is known about Couch, but the Bulb Records site lists the members as Marlon Magas and Mr. Velocity Hopkins. Marlon Magas is really co-founder Jim Magas, and Mr. Velocity Hopkins is really Peter Larson.
