It is a shame that someone is unable to learn from a serious mistake; i.e. having had a dog who died because of lack of supervision, Mr. (and Mrs.) Clinton did not learn that you cannot simply let a dog run unattended, and assume that he will be OK. Buddy, consequently, had to pay for his owners' lack of caring. This is (clearly) a bone of contention with me, as I have always owned scenthounds (Coonhounds, American Foxhound, and now Bloodhounds rule), and know quite well that a scenthound can not be let off leash; his nose may lead him toward other interesting things, and he may never return. But even other breeds--even a dog as sweet and obedient as the Chocolate Lab--cannot be left unattended. Please, if you own a dog, don't let this happen to him.
