Buddhadeb Bosu

Buddhadeb Bosu (1908-1974), was a renowned Bengali author and poet. He was born in Comilla District, Bengal (now in Bangladesh). He is considered the third magician of allround writing after Rabindranath and Nazrul.

Buddhadeb Bosu’s main homeland was Dhaka. In 1931, he was the first class first in M.A. in English language and literature from University of Dhaka.

Was a professor of Ripon College, which is now Surendronath College.

Was the editor of Statesman.

Buddhadeb Bosu was the head of the Department of Comparative Literature in Jadavpur University. He was also a visiting professor of many universities of the United States.

Being a student, edited ‘Progoti’. Afterwards, he was joined with ‘Kallol’, a famous one.

His main contribution in Bangla literature was Kobita, the single influential magazine of poetry. Many renowned writer was grown up by that. He edited ‘Kobita’ for 25 years.
