Buckley Petawabano

Buckley Petawabano is a Canadian actor and communications consultant.

A Cree from northern Quebec, Petawabano was educated in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. He subsequently acted in the CBC Television series Adventures in Rainbow Country, in which he played Pete Gawa, one of the first regular First Nations characters to appear in a Canadian television series. In 1975, he also appeared in the film Cold Journey, and subsequently worked in film production on a series of short films about First Nations culture.

Petawabano now runs his own production company in Mistissini, Nesk Productions, and has worked with the Grand Council of the Crees on communications initiatives. He is on the committee of the Eeyou Communications Network, an initiative to improve telecommunications and broadband Internet services to Cree communities, and has made presentations to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission on matters relating to the availability of media and telecommunications services in First Nations communities.
