[edit] History

History of Bucheon FC A founding member of the K-League in 1983, Bucheon F.C. have undergone several hardships during the years and have struggled to make a serious impact on Korean football.

Originally called Yukong Elephants, the club has lifted the Championship on only one occasion in 1989.

At the end of 1995 the side moved from the Dongdaemun Stadium in Seoul to the Mok-dong stadium on the very western edge of Seoul, and renamed themselves Bucheon Yukong after the city of Bucheon, only 10 miles from the Mok-dong stadium.

Mid-way through the 1997 season the club rebranded itself as Bucheon SK, and at the start of the 2001 season moved to the 35,545 seater Bucheon Stadium.

[edit] Surprise move to Jeju Island

In 2006, Bucheon SK abandoned their own fans and moved to Jeju without any fore notice and renamed themselves Jeju United FC. They became second immoral club after FC Seoul. It can be compared with the Milton Keynes Dons FC's franchising case. The fans of Bucheon FC are insisting Jeju United is not the successor of Bucheon FC and trying to found a new Bucheon FC now.

On May 21th, former Bucheon fans chose Fortuna 2002 as their support company to establish brand new Bucheon FC like AFC Wimbledon Their goal is to found own football club till the end of 2006 and participate National League in 2007.
