[edit] your new entries

Good day bruno, I wanted to ask you a favor and not create a long list of entries with no content? A stub is an entry with some content (even little) which plans to be expanded later. But the stub tag itself doesn't count as content. Would you stop and create them one by one when you have content to add? -- (drini|) 01:22, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

I wanted to ask you the same, do you plan on expanding those entries? Punkmorten 11:03, 1 October 2005 (UTC)

I was thinking in expanding them later, sorry about that Bruno18 14:36, 1 October 2005 (UTC)Bruno18

  • No problem. You are presently doing a great job. Punkmorten 08:13, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Chila2.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Chila2.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag, so its copyright status is therefore unclear. Please add a tag to let us know its copyright status. (If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}.) See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use. If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have tagged them, too. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Sherool 01:56, 2 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] South American Football club stubs

I understand your idea, but it is imperative for you to understand what stubs are for, and how categories work.

Stubs are used only to mark articles that need serious expanding/update/revision. The Categories, on the other side, are to bee non-redundand; if a team is at Category:Argentine football clubs, then it souldn't be directly included in South American football clubs because it is already, transitevely, included. Article List of football (soccer) clubs has an extensive list of clubs, that are not separated by continent, but could be. Hope you understand, Mariano(t/c) 07:11, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Paraguayan Football

Hi, I am happy to help. Feel free to move Liga Paraguaya to Liga Paraguaya: División Profesional, so you can create the article named "Liga Paraguaya: División Intermedia". Check the redirects after the move. Carioca 01:31, 2 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging Image:Olimpia2002.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Olimpia2002.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{gfdl}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Blackcap (talk) 23:57, 19 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Chila1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Chila1.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. howcheng {chat} 23:59, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re:Olimpia or Player of the Year?

Hola Bruno! I've being wanting to create the Circulo de Periodistas Deportivos' Olimpia Awards article some time now (it's in my ToDo list). The awards are for each of the most important sports in Argentina. I think you can name it Argentine Footballer of the Year, explaining in the article that it is part of the Olimpias'. You can leave the red links, I'll do the Olimpia Awards article in short (if you need some info see: Premios Olimpia, Circulo de Periodistas Deportivos). Suerte, Mariano(t/c) 07:01, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Err, one more thing. I just saw the list and realized that it contains foreign players playing Argentine teams (Salas, Chilavert, Franchescoli, etc) and Argentine players playing in other leagues (Kempes, Maradona, Batistuta, Messi). So now I'm not sure about the name, perhaps it would be better Player of the Year in Argentina, or even Player of the Year of Argentina that gives and ambiguity with that of (Of the country or of the league). BTW, the Olimpia de Oro is given to one of the winners of the Olimpias in all the sports, as the maximum sports achievement (improntance) of the year. Mariano(t/c) 07:13, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
Fenomeno!! Como se dice Muchas Grácias en Guaraní? (solo me aprendí a decir rojaijú; y bueno, uno va con lo mśs práctico ;o) ) Greetings, earthling! Mariano(t/c) 07:50, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] IW

There is something called the Interwiki Link Checker. I have never tried it. The thing is, in this case it looked like you took the information from the French Wikipedia. At least that's what I did when I covered all the African football federations.

Thanks for your work, by the way. Punkmorten 21:55, 20 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Segunda Division

Bruno, there is no such a thing as "Segunda Division de Argentina". I'm changing the wording to "Nacional B" but please help me rename the template and make the necessary changes.

Thanks!

Sebastian Kessel Talk 16:24, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

We should change the template to "Primera B Nacional" and then check the teams. :) Sebastian Kessel Talk 20:26, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
PS: You can find the teams at [1] or [2]

[edit] Valdez/Váldez

I would by no means wish to claim to know the matter better than you, as you seem to have a high input on matters to do with South American, and particularly Paraguayan, football, but as you have probably seen, I went through every reference I could this morning to Nelson Haedo Valdez, putting an accent on the a. I see you have corrected some of them. I always thought that the name was pronounced, like most other -ez apellidos, with the stress on the penultimate syllable: Valdez: was this a false assumption? Or is there another reason I had got it wrong? Sorry if I have done. Kevin McE 17:40, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

New image for Flag of Paraguay

I am writing this to let you know that there is a new vesion of the Flag of Paraguay alaliable. The image used on your user page, Image:Paraguay flag large.png is deprecated, and should be replaced with Image:Flag of Paraguay.svg, so that the old one can be deleted. HymylyT@C 13:25, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for switching. I've noticed that the colours are slightly different in the two flags. Is there a mistake somewhere or are the colours not clearly defined? HymylyT@C 14:23, 20 June 2006 (UTC)
OK, thanks. I'll note the old image for deletion. FYI, the Swedish flag does have official colours. It's in the law that a flag must have "NCS 0580-Y10R"-yellow and "NCS 4055-R95B"-blue. I have no idea what the codes mean though :) HymylyT@C 15:03, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] South American football league systems

I just got interested in how interconnected league systems work in different football leagues around the world, would you like to add some more info on South American leagues, maybe? The article I'm talking about is League system. Also, do you know of any South American league cups as apposed to open cups or super cups? Crix 02:20, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi Bruno, well I added the Argentine system, following the Spanish version. I think for the Brazilian league system, I just linked to an article on football in Brazil in general. But especially Brazil seems to be very interesting as they seem to have overlapping national and state leagues, but unfortunately I don't know enough about it...

As for the cups: it seems that there are three types of cup competitions in national club leagues:

  • "open cup", i.e. a cup competition which is open to any club of the corresponding football association irrespective of the league they are in. (Or in a weaker version, which is open to at least several levels, i.e. the Coppa Italia and the Copa del Rey are open to clubs from the highest four leagues). Examples would include the FA Cup and the DFB-Pokal.
  • "league cup", which is also a cup competition of some sort, but usually more restricted than the "open cup" variant. Often it will be open only to clubs from the highest league or something like that. Sometimes people call one the "major cup" and the other the "minor cup". The prime example is the FA Community Shield or the Ligapokal.
  • "super cup", which is usually a one-off event involving the league's championship winner and the league's cup winner. Super Cup provides examples for that.

If more people agree with this kind of classification, we could use this for a definition somewhere. So if I understand you correctly, this kind of competition is rare in Southern America? It might be a cultural difference between football in Europe and Southern America then. Also, I couldn't really find out what kind of clubs are eligible to take part in tha Copa do Brasil, so I don't know if it should be called an open cup or a league cup. Crix 02:51, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Paraguay

Perhaps it is time to ask for semi-protection for Paraguay? I've been slightly miffed at the addition of Braziguayan content of late; I can't find anything about this word on Google and a few anon IPs have been adding the same content repeatedly now. Perhaps alternatively they can be shown to be socks of Osasco (talkcontribslogsblock userblock log)? BigNate37T·C 14:29, 17 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Sudamericano Femenino 2006

Suerte, Mariano(t/c) 06:04, 5 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Inquiry

Inquiry: Bruno, how do you establish a disambiguation page? Several neighborhoods of Asuncion are being linked incorrectly to neighbohoods in Honduras, Mexico and Venezuela, and I would like to correct this. Mariscal8 15:05, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Bruno, whats the procedure to "lock up" a page? The Paraguay and Asuncion websites have been vandalized repeatedly in the past couple of weeks. Mariscal8 15:05, 16 November 2006 (UTC)

Been there, done that. Mariscal8 15:05, 16 November 2006 (UTC)
