[edit] 1/3 of Americans??
I removed the factoid from the opening paragraph about, "Fewer than 1/3 of Americans had ever tasted a bagel. [1]". Despite the fact that it is claimed on Bruegger's website, I find this hard to believe and I think it's more corporate advertising (which really is non-notable in an encyclopedia) than actual fact. Did they do a real study on this? Dr. Cash 22:07, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Trivia
- Over the course of a year, Bruegger’s produces approximately 70 million bagels, enough to make a stack higher than the Empire State building and have plenty left over.
- In a year’s time, all the Bruegger’s bakeries will use more than 700,000 pounds of coffee. That’s equivalent to 19,600,000 cups of coffee sold each year.
- Bruegger’s uses about ½ million pounds of roast turkey in a single year.
- Bruegger’s sells more than 4 million pounds of flavored cream cheese in a single year.
I removed the above comments from the Trivia section. It doesn't seem to fit in an encyclopedia article, and quite honestly, hardly classifies as true, cold, hard "fact." Realistically, it's interesting tidbits with some factual relevance that really falls into the category of corporate advertising (considering it was pulled off the corporate website to begin with). But the bottom line is that I don't think it really belongs in an encyclopedia article. Dr. Cash 22:31, 3 January 2006 (UTC)

- I think the first half of the first fact is relevant and should be included, "Over the course of a year, Bruegger’s produces approximately 70 million bagels". The amount of cream cheese would be potentially relevant too if it wasnt just flavored. The rest I agree is junk. -Lanoitarus (talk) .:. 23:26, 3 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Corporate History section
Hey everyone, i removed the Corporate History, but the removal was quite deliberate: it was lifted verbatim from http://www.brueggers.com/founder.html and is therefore a copyright violation, so I went ahead and removed it per WP:C. Looks like in the craziness with vandalism people thought it was removed accidentally. Please discuss here before readding that sectiona again.-Lanoitarus (talk) .:. 00:06, 4 January 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Storefront pic
Umm... why is the pic of the store called default.jpg? It looks to me like it might be a pic taken from brueggers website, but i cant find a source and there is no source info. Any ideas? -Lanoitarus (talk) .:. 01:13, 4 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bagels unknown outside of New York?
I removed this sentence: "Prior to the founding of Bruegger's, bagels were widely considered an ethnic food and not much known outside of New York City."
Please, bagels (at least marginal frozen and mass-produced once) have been a common foodstuff since well before 1983. There's no end of bagel serving bakeries, delis and restaurants that have been around a lot longer.
Heck, they've been common my whole life (which significantly predates 1983), and I've never lived in or near NYC.
