[edit] History
The original Brunswick station opened on 1 June 1864 as the terminus of a new Garston and Liverpool Railway line to Liverpool, but closed in 1874 when the line was diverted and extended to Liverpool Central. A goods yard remained on the station site, providing a connection to the Mersey Docks Railway, but this was eventually closed.
The present passenger station opened in 1998, on a site close to the original station but on the through route to Liverpool Central. It serves the industial dock buildings on one side, and a small housing estate at a higher point on the other.
[edit] Services
Trains run to either Liverpool Central and Southport to the north or Hunts Cross to the south at 15 minute frequencies Monday-Saturday. On Sundays, trains run at 30 minute frequencies in both directions.
[edit] Trivia
- The Liverpool Overhead Railway tunnel mouth which led to Dingle can be seen just south of the station.
