Bruno J. Global

Bruno J. Global is the fictional captain of the SDF-1 Macross in the anime series The Super Dimension Fortress Macross. He is named Henry J. Gloval in the Robotech English-dubbed adaptation. Captain Global is an Italian (ex-Soviet in Robotech) submarine skipper who was involved in the refit of the crashed Alien Space Ship-1 into SDF-1 Macross. He is the ship's plankowner and sees her through many adventures and hardships battling the Zentradi during the series.
Before commanding the Macross, he was the captain of the U.N. Navy submarine Marco Polo and the UN Spacy Oberth class space destroyer Goddard, which engaged and destroyed her hijacked sister ship Tsiolkovsky in the first ever use of reaction weaponry in real combat.
After Space War I, he took an administrative position in the U.N. Government and designed the Human emigration project, a space colonization scheme followed by the U.N. for the following years, to ensure the survival of mankind and its culture in case of further appearances of Zentradi and Supervision Army fleets. In both Macross and Robotech, he became an admiral after the battle against Boddole Zer (Robotech's Dolza). He survives the Macross series to become U.N. Representative in 2014, and retiring from the Spacy as a Brigadier General.
He married Miho Global in March 2003. It's unknown if they had any children, or if they survived the Battle with the Boddole Zer Main Fleet. In Robotech, details of Gloval's personal life have never been revealed.
In Robotech (but not Macross), he died when the SDF-1 was destroyed by Khyron the Backstabber in the show's finale (episode 36 "To the Stars" of Robotech).
The voice of Captain Global/Gloval in the Japanese Macross was provided by Michio Hazama and in in Robotech by Greg Finley.

- As a tribute to the series, the character design for Nemo in Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water, looks almost exactly like Global.
- The captain of the Terran Battlecruiser in Starcraft and Starcraft: Broodwar is modeled after Gloval and speaks in a manner similar to him too.
