The series is supposed to start in a town called Broken Bow, Oklahoma, but as one who grew up there I can say with certainty that the scenery in the show was not Broken Bow. Broken Bow lies in the foothills of the Ouachita Mountains, in southeastern Oklahoma. It is not flat and is not full of corn. It was founded by the Dierks Lumber Company and is surrounded by hardwood forests and Pine tree farms. I think the show confused Broken Bow, Oklahoma with Broken Bow, Nebraska.
