  • Image:Bronte_sisters.jpg - This image is from the National Portrait Gallery. A similar print at [1]. It looks like the user who uploaded it cleaned it up somewhat and saturated it, but it must be a print from the NPG, and so can't be used. Nick04 21:33, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)
    • It seems to be a photographic reproduction of an out-of-copyright work of art (artist died in 1848), and if so is probably not protected under U.S. copyright law (where our servers are). --rbrwr± 22:08, 14 Feb 2005 (UTC)
      • There are two seperate things here - the painting (which is indeed out of copyright), and the photograph of the painting (which isn't). I've just found out about Bridgeman Art Library Ltd. v. Corel Corporation, so I assume the image is in fact out of copyright in the US (it's still in copyright in the UK however, which is where I live...hence my slight confusion).
