Brown Hornets

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Brown Hornets is a broomball team that currently competes in the North Queensland Broomball Association A Grade mixed competition, based in Townsville, Queensland, Australia.

The team was formed under the name 'Weak As Piss' for the NQBA's 2002 Winter season and has competed in A Grade since then. The team colours are dark yellow and black; the current jersey has a dark yellow body with black sleeves, and the Brown Hornets team logo prominently on the front. They were renamed 'Wasps' in 2004 before soon adopting their current name later that year.

Brown Hornets are the only team to have competed in every NQBA A Grade competition since 2002, and hold the proud record of also qualifying for every play-off series since this date. Up to the 2006 Summer season (concluded June) they had qualified for eight play-off series in a row.

Arguably their finest hour came in the 2005 Summer season, when they won the A Grade competition for the first time. The title was secured in the grand final against rivals Pissed Penguins, Brown Hornets winning 1-0 with a goal from Cory Skilton.
