Brothers Arnaud

Jacques, Marc-Antoine and Dominique Arnaud are three Frenchmen brothers. They were born in the 18th century, in Jausiers, Ubaye Valley, France. They were the founders of Arnaudville, Louisiana

Jacques was born in Jausiers, in 1781. Hoping to become rich, he emigrated to Louisiana in 1805. He married Marie Lalonde, a Cajun woman. Soon, he was joined by his brothers. Together, they created Arnaudville, Louisiana.

In 1821, Jacques and his brothers moved to Mexico, where they created a textile shop, "El Cajon de Ropa de Las Sietes Puertas".

In 1828, Jacques was assassinated near the city of Guanajuato, Mexico.

Marc-Antoine and Dominique became rich with there American adventures. In 1845, three Arnaud's French workers came back in Ubaye valley, richs. It was the start of the French emigration in Louisiana and Mexico. All this Frenchmen was native of Ubaye Valley, and because Barcelonnette is the biggest town of this valley, this men was called "the Barcelonnettes". Today, there are 50,000 descendants of the Barcelonnettes in Mexico and Louisiana.
