Brookhaven Hospital

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Brookhaven Hospital is an establishment in the Silent Hill survival horror games and the 2006 film, which is primarily run as a mental institution. After a plague epidemic and the abandonment of the town, it was repopulated in the 1860s as a penal colony and Brookhaven hospital and Toluca Prison were founded as the American Civil War broke out. In recent years, the hospital has been used primarily as a mental institution, as well as a clinic. The hospital has 5 floors, including a basement and a roof top.

[edit] Silent Hill 2

James Sunderland is lured to the hospital in an attempt to catch the prankster Laura, in the fear that she might be hurt by a creature. When James finds Laura, she tricks him into being locked in a room full of creatures that she is not aware of. The hospital also has an "other-side", which looks largely the same but is even more delapidated. Walls are covered in white sheets, as a coroner would drape over a dead body.

[edit] Silent Hill 3

Heather Mason enters the hospital in the hope of finding a man named Leonard, as suggested by the priest Vincent. The hospital looks largely the same as in the previous game. Heather is psycologically tormented by a patient who is obsessed with Heather. He writes her notes in his diary and leaves a token of a doll. When the hospital crosses over into the "other world", it retains its traditional look: blood-red, rust coloured surrounds; wire mesh floors and walls.

[edit] Silent Hill Movie

In the film, it is this hospital, and not Alchemella as in the game, that Alessa Gillespie was sent to after she was burned alive. Alessa and "the demon" reside in the bowels of the hospital, where the religious sect dare not tred. When Rose travels down in the elevator, however, she plummets even deeper underground than the intended destination.
