[edit] Development
Charles Dickens, Jr (the eldest son of Charles Dickens) wrote in his book, Dictionary of London 1879, that "[Brompton] was at one time almost exclusively the artist quarter, and it still largely frequented by the votaries of the brush and the chisel, though of late years Belgravia has been encroaching on its boundaries."
