[edit] Writing and Recording Process
Steady, As She Goes was the first song Brendan and Jack worked on, followed by Broken Boy Soldier. After the completion of these two songs and their demos, they called in Jack Lawrence and Patrick Keeler to work on the songs. The bassline from "Steady, As She Goes" is supposed to have been lifted from Joe Jackson's song "Is She Really Going Out With Him?"
In an interview with Uncut Magazine Jack said that "Store Bought Bones" originated from an outtake of the last White Stripes album, Get Behind Me Satan. Brendan also said that "Call It A Day" and "Together" were both songs he was working on for his next solo album.
"Yellow Sun" is supposed to have been recorded live according to their interview with AOL Interface podcast.
The band said that the only reason they stopped at 10 songs was because they were writing too many and thought that it was a good number.
"5 on the 5" is a new song they debuted during their tour.
"Store Bought Bones" has been merged with b-side "The Bane Rendition" recently on the tour.
