[edit] Hudson Taylor

Hi Brian; thanks for your edits to Hudson Taylor. I noticed that you have been adding alot of "red" links to the article; that is, linking people who do not have articles on Wikipedia. Normally, that's fine, so long as the person whose name you are linking deserves a Wikipedia article. Wikipedia has guidelines for determining whether or not someone should have an article, but in general, linking people like Grace Dyer Taylor (Taylor's first surviving daughter) is a waste, because she isn't notable except for the fact that she was related to Hudson Taylor. Even Taylor's wife doesn't deserve a link, unless she herself did something spectacular. Hope these comments help. If you have any questions about how Wikipedia works, feel free to leave a note on my talk page; I'd be happy to help you out. Thanks again for your work! --Spangineer[es] (háblame) 21:01, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

In that case, you're probably right, and you've touched on an important test of notability—that if biographers have devoted significant amounts of print to someone's life, they may warrant an article. --Spangineer[es] (háblame) 21:22, 15 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of Protestant missionaries in China

Brian, Thanks for creating List of Protestant missionaries in China, as per my suggestion. Please refer to Talk:List of Protestant missionaries in China for a further tidy up operation. Regards, David. DFH 18:14, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Historical bibliography of Protestant missions in China

Brian, It also occurs to me that it would make similar sense to create a new article called Historical bibliography of Protestant missions in China, and then merely link to this from the References section in the article for each such missionary. There is a lot of duplication in the books listed in many of these existing pages. DFH 19:03, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Bibliography link

I don't have a comprehensive enough list for all of Protestant missions. It's pretty narrowly focused on the C.I.M. right now. Maybe if it could be expanded I think that it would be nice to have a link like that. Thanks. Brian

[edit] Fair use images

Please take a look at WP:FUC, especially point 8. An image of a book cover can't be used as an illustration of a person, just as an illustration of the book. I have contacted Lars Gren and will be contacting Steve Saint soon to see if they have images of the men that they might release. Also, do you have any sources for the information you added to the Jim Elliot article? I'd like to get that article to featured status over the next month, and it can't have any unreferenced information in it if that is to happen. --Spangineerws (háblame) 16:53, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Glad to hear that you may be able to get a portrait for both men. I added the references that I know of. I will try and look up the missing page numbers and add it soon. Thanks for you input!Brian0324 17:20, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

I got the Brainerd reference (page 109 in my version), but I couldn't find Muller. Also, there's mention on page 109 about Taylor's other books. I'd like to incorporate these somehow into the flow of the article (rather than have a separate section on all the authors he read), but we'll see. --Spangineerws (háblame) 17:38, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
That's great! I don't have the book handy right now. I agree that it disrupts the flow. I'll let you re-write.Brian0324 17:40, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Mari/Mary Jones

Hi, Brian. I've moved Mari Jones back to "Mary Jones (Bible) for now, because she is never called Mari Jones by non-Welsh speakers. Although I can understand the reasons you made the change, you didn't format the redirect properly, so it didn't work. If you feel strongly about the title, then please put in a Move request and we can have a debate about it. Deb 17:57, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Updated DYK query On December 4, 2006, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Mary Jones (Bible), which you created. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Thankyou Brian for creating this interesting article. GeeJo kindly nominated it for DYK. The majority of entries are self-nom, so please don't be shy.Blnguyen (bananabucket) 07:11, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, Brian. I agree that we should "translate" honour into owner, but I think it would be more interesting to put both spellings in and explain about why she wrote it that way. Deb 18:22, 4 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Milne

Hello Brian. William Charles Milne (1815-1863) is indeed William Milne's son, so I'll try to move the article back to the original name. Cheers.--K.C. Tang 02:02, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
