British 223rd Independent Infantry Brigade (Home)

The 223rd Independent Infantry Brigade (Home) was part of the British Army during the Second World War, it was created as a Home Defense brigade on 17th October 1940 .

On 7th November 1942 it was converted to 3rd Parachute Brigade under which title it parachuted into Normandy on D-Day and crossed the Rhineduring Operation Varsity .

- 10th Bn, The Essex Regiment (became 9th Bn, The Parachute Regiment)
