Brimstone Howl is a rock and roll band based in Lincoln and Omaha, Nebraska. They play blues and punk influenced rock and roll in a style commonly called "garage rock", although the band members themselves reject the term. They began in 2002 as Caesar the Greaser, and became The Zyklon Bees in 2004. In May of 2005 the band was "persuaded" by the Anti-Defamation League to change their name, which then became Brimstone Howl. Brimstone Howl has had numerous lineup changes since its inception. The current lineup consists of John Ziegler (guitar/vocals), Nick Waggoner (guitar), and Calvin Retzlaff (drums).
In early 2005, Brimstone Howl released their first album as The Zyklon Bees, an EP entitled Seven Mean Runs, on SPEED! Nebraska Records. It was later re-released with the band name Brimstone Howl on it. Later that year the band released their second album Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! on SPEED! Nebraska. In 2006 the band released four singles on Boomchick, SPEED! Nebraska, and Obsolete Records. Single Blood on the Rocks, Bones in the River was recorded and mixed by Jay Reatard and became the best-selling single in Boomchick Records history. Their next album is slated to be released in December 2006 on Alive Records and is being produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.
