Despite being regarded as the more modest faction of the Bayside suburbs it has contributed immensely to the culture and profile of the Brighton area in general, Brighton East is very well known for its many spacious parklands, most notably Dendy Park (one of Victoria's 10 biggest parks/outdoor recreation areas), Hurlingham Park and Landcox Park. The abundance of parks and sporting ovals has contributed to the development of a proud sporting culture in East Brighton, it is home to many highly regarded sports teams such as Brighton Soccer Club, based in Dendy Park, Brighton Vampires Football Club, based in Hurlingham Park and Brighton Bowls club who take to the greens situated on the North-Eastern boundary of Dendy Park. The lush 18-hole golf course of the Brighton Golf club is also another priminent sporting landmark of the Eastern faction of the community.
East Brighton has become a preferred suburb amongst Melbournians to start a family, primarily due to the abundance of parks and also schooling facilities, St.Finbar's Primary School is the Catholic Parish and most popular centre for primary education in East Brighton. However a plethora of primary schools in the neighbouring communities of Brighton and Bentleigh are very accessible. Brighton East is also home to Brighton Secondary College, one of the highest achieving government schools in Victoria and St.Leonard's College, a highly esteemed private school, providing a rich and varied choice of secondary education to residents.
Brighton East has benefited greatly from the property boom in Melbourne suburbs and has grown in stature to become highly regarded as a community in its own right.
