Bridgeway Community Church
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bridgeway Community Church is located in Columbia, Maryland and is a non-denominational, multicultural church led by founding pastor and author on race relations, Dr. David Anderson. With nearly 2000 people attending each week, Bridgeway uses the creative arts and practical Christian teaching to reach people, no matter where they are on their spiritual journey.
[edit] Bridgeway's History
Bridgeway began as a dream in the mind of David Anderson, when he was still a teenager. Through his studies at Moody Bible Institute and his experiences at Willow Creek Community Church, that dream became a calling. Assembling a team of young visionaries, David and his co-laborers embarked on a journey to start a multi-cultural church. A church unlike any they had ever experienced. One of family and community. Creativity and imagination. Truth and integrity. A celebration of all colors and cultures doing life together and worshipping God-together!
On Easter morning, 1992, the adventure began. Stepping out in faith, David and his team began building a church. Through meeting in peoples’ homes, singing without instruments, and sharing the Gospel with co-workers, the vision of Bridgeway started to spread. God was moving in this little church and lives were being changed.
[edit] Bridgeway Today
Today nearly 2000 people call Bridgeway Community Church their home. Bridgeway offers 3 Sunday services and 2 video overflow services at Howard Community College. There are an extensive list of ministries that reach in to the body of Christ and out to the community. The cultural and racial blend has raised interest from leaders around the country as Bridgeway successfully fulfills our vision: “To become a multicultural army of fully devoted followers of Christ, moving forward in unity and love, to reach our community, our culture, and our world for Jesus Christ.”
The church is now getting ready to move into their own building in the fall of 06. It is a 57,000 square feet warehouse space that will have a 1250 seat auditorium, children's ministries (BridgeKids), student ministries (Fusion and Common Ground), offices, classrooms, coffee shop, bookstore and prayer chapel. The building is located at 9189 Red Branch Road in Columbia.

The strategy - Connect→Build→Equip→Lead
This strategy of progression in developing fully devoted followers of Christ is demonstrated in programs with the primary purposes of outreach, growth/inreach, ministry training, and leadership development.
- Connect: Helping others connect to Christ, the Church, and our Community
- Build: Helping others grow in their spiritual journey and in Gospel truth (being alive, adopted, and armed for spiritual engagement)
- Equip: Helping others embody the roles of ambassadors, bridgebuilders, and disciplers
- Lead: Helping the called to lead “committed” people (leaders who make other fully devoted Christ followers)
