Bridgette Andersen (July 11, 1975 - May 18, 1997), was an American child actress, best known for her part in the title role of the heart-warming comedy Savannah Smiles (1982).
Born in Inglewood, California, her high IQ was evident at a very young age, reading since she was 2 and a half years old. With a wide range of reading interests at the age of six, Ernest Hemingway was her favorite writer and The Old Man and the Sea her favorite book. She was a distant relative of fairy-tale author Hans Christian Andersen.
She died as a result of an alcohol and heroin overdose at the age of 21. One of her final performances was a guest part on the sitcom Unhappily Ever After (1995), taped only a year before her death.
