Brick by Brick is a June 1990 album by the American singer Iggy Pop. After garnering mixed reviews for much of his 80s output, Pop hired longtime Stooges fan Don Was as producer and opted for a hard-rock sound. Many songs on the album involve a lyrical theme of the United States facing dangers of cultural decay and implosion. The album gave Pop some of his strongest reviews since his David Bowie collaborations, and "Candy" became his first MTV hit, as the video for that song found fairly heavy rotation on that station.
Videos were also made for "Home", "Butt Town" and "Livin' on the Edge of the Night".
Album peaked at number 90 on Billboard top 200 albums and stayed on the charts for 45 weeks. Song "Livin' on the edge on the night" was released before album as a soundtrack for the hit movie "Black rain" starring Michael Douglas. Song reached number 16 on Modern rock tracks.
"Candy" reached number 30 on Mainstream rock tracks, number 5 on Modern rock tracks and number 28 on Billboard hot 100.
First single from the album "Home" reached number 2 on Modern rock tracks.
Brick by Brick became first Iggy's US certified gold album (more than 500,000 copies sold). After the album Iggy went on very succesfull world tour which is documented on live DVD concert taped in Olympia in Paris 1991. Lot of famous fans appeared on stage with Iggy during that tour including longtime fan Johnny Depp.
